Welcome to the Ichthyology Lab Website!  The Ichthyology Lab is the home of Dr. Scott Hamilton, his graduate students, and several affiliated researchers both at MLML and at collaborating institutions.

Our research interests are broadly concerned with the study of fishes, including the sharks, skates, rays, and chimaeras. Much of our work focuses on aspects of the life history of these organisms.  Studies in the Ichthyology lab include, but are not limited to, age and growth, reproduction, and feeding and foraging ecology.  We use such tools as otolith (and other hard structures) age determination, radiometric age validation, gut content analyses, stable isotope analyses, life history modeling, morphological analysis, population genetic (molecular) analyses, and studies of animal movement patterns using tagging technology.
